September 20, 2009 -  4:00 p.m                         A Grand Opening

Family and friends join forces to perform Mendelssohn's Octet in E-flat major for Strings.  The program opens with husband and wife teams performing duos by Handel/Halverson and Mozart. The Miami String Quartet will be performing Ginastera's String Quartet No. 1. Jaime Laredo, violin; Ida Kavafian, violin; Steven Tenenbom, viola; Sharon Robinson, cello plus the Miami String Quartet with Benny Kim, violin; Cathy Meng Robinson, violin; Yu Jin, viola and Keith Robinson, cello.

 



 October11, 2009 - 4:00 p.m.                                Strings and Winds

   

The Linton tradition of featuring the fine musicians of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra continues in this clever program of Mozart's famous string work, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, and Barber's woodwind Quintet Summer Music. Strings and winds combine forces to perform a special chamber ensemble version of Brahms Serenade No. 1.  Jaime Laredo, violin; Celeste Golden, violin; Ida Kavafian, viola; Sharon Robinson, cello; Owen Lee, bass; Randy Bowman, flute; Dwight Parry, oboe; Richie Hawley, clarinet; William Winstead, bassoon; Elizabeth Freimuth, French horn.

       

         


 November 15, 2009 - 4:00 p.m.                         Peter Wiley and Friends

Guarneri Quartet members, violinist John Dalley and cellist Peter Wiley will perform works by Mozart, Dvorak and Mendelssohn in a program of violinists disguising themselves as violists! Come experience "Music Making Among Friends." Mozart's Quintet in C-major, Dvorak's Terzetto in C for Two Violins and Viola and Mendelssohn's Quintet in B-flat major will showcase these multitalented musicians. Also performing: Lily Francis, violin/viola; Tien-Hsin "Cindy" Wu, violin/viola; Steven Tenenbom, viola.

  
 

February 7, 2010 - 4:00 p.m.                                   Beloved Brahms

 

These performances of the Brahms Sextet in G Major are simply not to be missed with great friends Pamela Frank, Ida Kavafian, Michael Tree and Peter Wiley joining our artistic directors! Schulhoff’s Duo for Violin and Cello and Boccherini’s Quintet in E Major (with his most famous minuet) are also to be featured on this program that guarantees to be something special.

 


 March 28, 2010 - 4:00 p.m.                                 Bohemian Spirit

CSO principal cellist Ilya Finkelshteyn makes his Linton debut. He will join former concertmaster for the CSO and Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw Alexander Kerr, CSO concertmaster Timothy Lees, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra principal violist, Michael Strauss and award winning pianist Anton Nel in this program that will feature Dvorak’s Quintet in A Major. Mozart’s Sonata for violin and piano in B-flat Major and Martinu’s Madrigals for violin and viola will add to the Bohemian spirit of this program.


May 2, 2010 - 4:00 p.m.                                             Finale

Don’t miss clarinetist Anthony McGills return to Cincinnati as he and his colleagues Michael Tree and Anna Polonsky of The Schumann Trio join Artistic Directors Jaime Laredo and Sharon Robinson to close this incredible inaugural season. This “dream team” trio will perform Mozart’s Kegelstatt Trio in E-flat, Schumann’s Märchenerzählungen, and selections from Bruch’s Romantic Pieces. The color and passion of Faure’s Quartet No. 1 in C minor will end the program and the season in grand finale style!
